Has this happened to you, where you see a post on social media and you think, “I should have been doing that too!” od Maybe you hear about someone going to a conference and making great connections and think,” I could’ve been there too, darn!” We get hung up in other areas and stuck in the negativity. That negative loop is 100 million times not serving us in any fashion.
In today’s post, I want to talk about how to protect your mind from all the negative thoughts and distractions. Y’all know I am all about taking action steps and in this post I want us to talk about what it takes to stay present in the moment
Turn Off Notifications
Your phone is the biggest distraction there is. Each time there is a noise we pick it up and lose focus on what we need to be doing. We don’t need all those dings going on notifying us about a new social media post are breaking news when we are trying to get stuff done. I want you to turn off all the unnecessary notification today! By turning off the notifications, you’re able to stay focused on your practice.
Use Your List
How many times are you checking on your to-do list? I do hope you have used some of my tips for building your to do list and picking out a few things each day to focus on. But what about when you get off track or distracted? This happens to me when something comes up unexpectedly, I might have a hard time getting back on track and plugging away. When you do find yourself getting off track sometimes opening up your to do list and see what is up next.
There are a million tools out there, and right now I am LOVING Asana. By having your to do list open at your desk forces you to stay on task.
It also helps if you do NOT have Facebook open or any other social media or news channels that could get you to distracted. What I also like to do is I have a whole other window divided to social media and my different desktop.
This way I have a working desktop and I can swipe over and have a social media desktop. This helps me to keep all that wonderful social media away from my day-to-day tasks that have to get done.
We All Have 24 Hours
Everyone in the world has the same amount of time. Those that are able to stay focused and on task without getting bogged down in distractions are the ones we see crushing it! The power of staying focused can be the game changes that take your practice from a dream to your dream job! There is not one human that has 27 or 28 hours in the day. We are all given 24 hours in a day and yes we do need some of that for sleep, and it’s how you stay focused and on task will take you and your practice to the next level. Blocking out times for tasks, calls, and clients is the best way to use each of the days to the most effective.
Stay focused and on task to be the one that others will be having the should’ve would’ve could’ve about. A few simple reminders each day will continue to bring you back to the task that takes your practice to the next level.
