The number one mistake I see with my coaching and supervision clients, is that they put themselves last on the list of who is important.
This is a huge mistake. Self-care is very important, even more so when you run your own practice.
As an entrepreneur and business owner, often when we run our own practice, we find yourselves working more hours than at a job. This is normal, but so is not taking time for yourself. You are as important as everyone else. Self-care is the one thing we often let slide. Set aside time just for you. Walk, meditate, go out with a friend, see a movie, get a mani-pedi. Do whatever makes you happy.
Here are 3 ways to make sure you take time to look after yourself so your practice can thrive.
- Make time for Yourself. And do not feel guilty about it.
- Set a Schedule. And stick to it. Remember you are important too.
- Celebrate your Successes. This is as important a part of self care as making time for it is. Do not let wins slide by without celebrating the win.
When you make time for yourself, you will find yourself getting rejuvenated and inspired by the time away from the practice. If you don’t you put yourself first, you will burnout. It happens to the best of us. Even worse, if you don’t take care of yourself you won’t be around to make your dream practice a reality.
Your Action Step today – Incorporate these 3 small habit changes into your daily life and you will find yourself improving your productivity and focus, as well as taking care of YOU and that practice will grow and succeed!
