This past week in a group I help facilitate and coach a group (let me know if you would like to join the TRIBE) I got to thinking about the difference between a good practitioner vs a great practitioner. We all have the same knowledge of biochemistry, and have the desire to truly help clients live a more peaceful life, and yet there sometimes feel a difference between a few practitioners out there. In today’s post I want to share with y’all the big difference between a good practitioner and great and help you pave your way to greatness.
INVESTMENT
How Do You Know Where to Invest?
A million different options for CEU’s course exist now and for advanced certifications, and yes that will continue to progress your career. I am not saying to not attend CEU’s and conferences I am asking you to look at these investments as investments in yourself! That simple mindset shift of looking at each course you take as a way to invest in yourself it will have a profound effect on how you listened and what you get out of the lecture.
I am investing in myself
I want that to be your new mantra each time you click the purchase button on a CEU or conference checkout page. Getting over the cost and see this as a true investment in your worth as a practitioner is beyond valuable.
I will tell you the first thing that I did is I went to a personal development course. At this point, I am 8.5 years into owning my practice, and I knew that I need to become more well-rounded. I about had a meltdown clicking that purchase button because it was WAY outside my budget or anything I have ever purchased. And looking back at it now, I can’t even begin to explain to you how worth it that investment has and will continue to be.
When I came back from that conference, I was a better person. I had confidence in myself. The fear of asking for my fees at the end of a session or to tell a client what I clinically thought were not there. That conference was a game changer for me.
How to be an Exceptional Practitioner
To be an exceptional practitioner you are going to take the investment idea a bit further. You will not only invest in yourself on a regular basis through education and self-growth, and you are investing in others. One of my great mentors once told me that during your career there will be many doors open for you through education, it is how you leave the door open behind you and encourage others to follow along is what will set you up for success.
I have never forgotten that and to this day once I learn something, I have to share it with y’all!
As we come up to the conference season and CEU season takes time right now and plan out how you will invest in yourself and those around you.
